Data Architect - Dublin
Digital and Mobile Department
Applications are currently being invited for the role of Data Architect in the Digital and Mobile Department in Dublin, reporting to the Director Digital and Mobile. Aer Lingus’s Architecture team is growing in Dublin. We have a mix of skilled architects working on a wide range of projects from website solutions to data and reporting project to major system integrations. The architecture team work with development teams to provide analysis, design and technology strategy that is key to the delivering a positive guest experience and enhance the airline’s operational performance.
We're searching for a Data Architect that is looking to grow their career in a dynamic enterprise environment. The Data Architect will work with other architects to define strategies for data, data migration, and integrations and will report to the Enterprise Architect.
Your first assignment will be with Enterprise Reporting team where you will guide the development of a new Enterprise Data Warehouse. This role has scope to expand to a wider view of data across a range of enterprise projects.
The role has a technical focus with specific skills around Enterprise Information Architecture, Data Warehousing, Data Modelling (Kimball and OLAP) and ETLs. Oracle is the primary database stack but knowledge of other systems would be advantageous including non-RDMS such as Mongo and Hadoop.
Key Responsibilities & Duties Include:
Serving as the primary knowledge resource for data definitions
Developing and maintaining an Enterprise Information Architecture (EIA) and ensuring designs adhere to it
Modelling the future state of the data architecture and providing data architecture best practices and guidelines
Designing solutions that support high performing, scalable software solutions
Defining and maintaining database code deployment processes
Assisting with root cause analysis of data issues
Determining overall modelling standards, guidelines, best practices and approved modelling techniques
Participating in data integration, BI and enterprise information management programs by rationalizing data processing to support reuse.
Effectively communicating solutions, designs and issues with all stakeholders
Responsible for getting buy-in and consensus on approach from infrastructure, data-warehouse and database teams
Negotiating approach/scope of projects with stakeholders
Taking responsibility for Enterprise Architecture compliance at the portfolio architecture level
Assisting in project estimation and T-shirt sizing
Identifying gaps in enterprise & portfolio architecture and works through Enterprise architect to resolve
Provide mentoring and coaching
To be considered for the role of Data Architect, candidates must meet the following:
Minimum 8 years of related experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
Experience in a data architect role
Be able to demonstrate the key competencies / skills necessary for the role
Fluent in English, both written and spoken
Eligible to live and work in the EU
Hold a current unrestricted worldwide passport
Provide 3 verifiable references
Able to pass a strict airport security vetting procedure which includes a 5 year back ground check* or be in possession of a current airside pass for the airport this position is based in
Possess and be able to demonstrate the key competencies and skills outlined below
*If you are a non Irish Citizen, you will need to be in possession of a current police disclosure certificate from your home country. If you have lived outside the Republic of Ireland for more than 6 months you will also be required to hold a current police disclosure certificate from that country/countries
Key Competencies / Skills Required:
Strong communications skills, both documentary and verbal, from deep technical through to business presentations at executive level. Ability to present technical ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language
Ability to motivate in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Ability to set and manage priorities judiciously
Exceptionally self-motivated, directed, and detail-oriented
Superior analytical and problem solving skills
Strong stakeholder relationship management
Knowledge in airline systems such as such as Passenger Sales and Service(PSS), Revenue Management, Loyalty, etc. would be advantageous but not essential
Experience with NoSQL Technologies (Mongo, Hadoop)
Experience with Cloud & Hybrid Cloud solutions.
Experience with Essbase and Tableau
