Applications are invited for the full time position of Flight Operations Officer (FOO).  This role is a shift position based in the Operations Control Centre (OCC) Hangar 6, Dublin Airport.  Reporting to the Flight Dispatch and Air Traffic Services Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for European and Trans-Atlantic flight planning and the associated Slot Management functions as part of the Flight Dispatch team. 
The FOO has an integral role to play within the OCC and will be required to provide a comprehensive flight planning/flight monitoring service to meet both our own and our customer’s needs.  The successful candidate will support, brief and assist flight crews on a daily basis and will also be responsible for maintaining and building on the established relationships that exist between Aer Lingus and Air Traffic Control Service Providers.  FOO`s are recognised throughout the world of aviation and are trained to exacting standards - full training will be provided to achieve a Flight Operations Officer Certificate of Competency.

Key Responsibilities:

Provision of optimised flight planning and support documentation to internal and external customers taking into account safety and accuracy, operating costs, punctuality, slot requirements and the operating conditions of the day
Providing flight monitoring as per the Aer Lingus schedule
Managing duty slot requirements on the day of operation to ensure cost effective schedule delivery withminimum delays to the Aer Lingus schedule
Liaising and negotiating with Air Traffic Service Providers, including Central Flow Management Unit (CFMU)
Participating in OCC pre-planning activities
Participating in the OCC response to schedule disruption
Participating in the management and update of various OCC information databases 
In the event of an emergency, initiating such procedures as may be outlined in the Operations Manual 
Assisting in the development of Flight Planning processes and procedures
Compilation and dissemination of operational data to other departments as required
Performing operations duties and projects as required by the Manager Ops Control and/or deputy 

To be considered for the role of Flight Operations Officer, candidates must meet the following:

Essential Criteria: 

Proven experience in airline operations with a minimum of 2 years relevant industry experience and broad base airline knowledge or have satisfactorily completed a formal training course as a flight operations officer or flight dispatcher
Understanding of the Aer Lingus Safety Management System
A sound knowledge and appreciation of the detail and complexity of the regulatory environment governing airline operations.
An appreciation of the role of the OCC in achieving overall company objectives
Fluent in English, both written and spoken
Eligible to live and work in the EU
Hold a current unrestricted worldwide passport
Be in possession of a current airside pass for Dublin airport or be able to obtain one 
Possess and be able to demonstrate the key competencies and skills outlined below

Good understanding of aviation regulations and their application
Good computer skills and knowledge of systems and procedures

Desirable Criteria:

Good working knowledge of the ATC environment and implications for the Aer Lingus Operation
Proven knowledge of flight planning and performance techniques combined with an understanding of aviation weather reports and forecasts
