Applications are currently being invited for a number of positions of Catering Assistant in the Catering Department based at Dublin Airport. These are fixed-term contracts, which are available immediately.
Catering Assistants are required to carry out a variety of duties in a busy Flight Kitchen.  These duties include the preparation of passenger and crew meal trays and working in a clearance area, which disposes of all items from meal trays on their arrival back to Catering.
The work is physically demanding and involves working as part of a team to meet deadlines and adhering to strict health, safety and hygiene standards.  These roles are shift positions requiring employees to work over a 7-day period including weekends and bank holidays.  Full training is provided.

Key Responsibilities & Duties Include:
Preparation of passenger and crew meal trays
Assist Chef with food preparation
Ensure all in-flight equipment is serviceable when leaving the Catering unit
Working in a clearance area – cleaning of returned passenger and crew meal trays
Sorting and storing all flight equipment
Preparation of dry stores for all flights
Ensure the Department remains compliant with Health & Safety, Food Safety and Security Procedures
Maintain required standards of housekeeping and cleanliness in the area
Porter duties to include cleaning, assisting Chefs and catering assistants

Essential Criteria:
Be at least 18 years of age at the closing date of this notice
Pass a 5-year security background check and Garda Vetting process
Provide verifiable references
Eligible to live and work in the E.U.*
Fluent in English, both spoken and written
Willing to work a range of shift duties in a 24 hour, 7 day a week operation
Be physically fit and able to pass a medical assessment
Be prepared to adhere to all Aer Lingus Catering uniform standards 
Possession and demonstration of the key competencies outlined below

*If you are a non-Irish Citizen, you will need to be in possession of a current police disclosure certificate from your home country.  If you have lived outside the Republic of Ireland for more than 6 months you will also be required to hold a current police disclosure certificate from those country/countries

Key Qualifications / Competencies:
Flexible, committed self-motivated, and enthusiastic 
Proven capability of using own initiative while participating as a team player 
Good communication skills – both spoken and written
Ability to work to tight deadlines while producing high quality work
Proven numerical skills with a keen attention to detail
Conscious of the security, health & safety & HACCP requirements of the role
Demonstrable ability to react positively to pressure and consistently meet deadlines

Desirable Criteria: 
Previous Catering experience desirable.
