Reporting to the DEI Development Manager, the candidate will have responsibility for the quality and timeliness of the middleware development initiatives which are the foundation for many Aer Lingus projects and ambitions. The candidate will also be a people manager responsible for development of technical team, meeting technical KPI’s, managing team members and accountable for overall output of their team.

Managing onshore and offshore development teams
Working across multiple pillars
Focused on developing and delivering upon technical KPI’s
People Management and mentoring of technical team
Responsible for the quality and timelines of all projects
Designing and specification of enterprise integration applications and services
Understanding of current and emergent software technologies e.g. SOA, Messaging, NoSQL Databases (MongoDB),
Application Servers and ESB
Work closely with the DEI Architect and Technical leads to design and deliver high quality technical solutions
Prioritise and assign tasks for the development team daily
Help provide appropriate sizing estimates
Maintaining up to date knowledge of industry trends and development.
Working with Release Manager to improve CI pipelines to ensure faster iterative delivery of functionality and improvements
Your qualifications & key criteria:
Previous experience as a Team Lead or similar technical people management role in a large scale software development project
10 years + Java technologies
Solid experience working with REST services and Spring Frameworks
Strong Design knowledge, both code design patterns and API design principles
Application Servers (JBoss an advantage)
Awareness of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and similar design techniques
Experience of Web Services
Continuous build/integration (Jenkins, Maven, Git)
Strong communications skills, both documentary and verbal, from deep technical through to business presentations at executive level
Ability to present technical ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language
Ability to lead a team of Technical leads and developers
Ability to motivate in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Superior analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities
Fluent in English, both written and spoken
Eligible to live and work in the EU
Hold a current unrestricted worldwide passport
Provide 3 verifiable references
Able to pass a strict airport security vetting procedure which includes a 5 year back ground check* or be in possession of a current airside pass for the airport this position is based in
Professional IT qualification and/or proven working experience with software development
Experience of Messaging in particular experience using ESB technologies and/or IBM products
Knowledge of API Management, Service registry, Service Discovery an advantage
Good knowledge of airline business processes
*If you are a non Irish Citizen, you will need to be in possession of a current police disclosure certificate from your home country. If you have lived outside the Republic of Ireland for more than 6 months you will also be required to hold a current police disclosure certificate from that country/countries
