We’re the department that manages efficient and safe scheduled maintenance, modification and repair of our aircraft; and performs maintenance on our A320 and A330 fleet to the highest possible standards.
This role sits within the Engineering team and reports to the Director of Engineering. You will be responsible for maintaining a state of constant compliance and continuing airworthiness of the fleet, while supporting Aer Lingus Line and Base Maintenance activities.

Manage continuing airworthiness of the A320, A321Neo and A330 fleets.
Lead and develop the Engineering team leaders, including performance reviews and regular one-to-ones.
Support Line and Base Maintenance to ensure aircraft availability and highest levels if Technical Dispatch Reliability (TDR).
Ensure all cross functional Engineering procedures and related forms are continuously updated, to reflect industry best practice, and to align with requirements of the Aer Lingus MMOE, IOSA and EASA Part M (and later transition to Part-CAMO).
Ensure new and evolving work practices are appropriately documented and controlled, taking advantage of digitization, AMOS capabilities, and A.I. where possible.
Maintain current and accurate aircraft statuses such as AD, SB, repair, component, and structural repair statuses.
Encourage cross functional support both within M&E and the company.
Promote hazard reporting, including self-reporting, via the company Safety Reporting System.
Liaise with IAG where relevant on commercial issues and good practise sharing.
Ensure changes to Engineering or those originating from Engineering are appropriately risk assessed and control measures are implemented where necessary.
Rigorously implement the Airworthiness Directive process to ensure timely completion and release of documentation, both internally and from the contracted engineering services provider.
Ensure OEM data (Airbus SB, ISI etc.) is continuously reviewed by the Engineering team and that risk based decision making is in place, including cost of prevention vs cost of failure analysis, for any non-mandatory aircraft modifications.
Provision of latest maintenance data, including all ICAs relevant to the Aer Lingus fleet from point of delivery and as modified, repaired and inspected thereafter, and distribution appropriately.
Setup and maintain service life limited components (including those with a certified life limit) in AMOS and align with AMP (including ALS, AD etc.)
Ensure the output from Engineering (such as Engineering Orders, Technical Notices) is written to the highest possible standards and in a format appropriate for use by Maintenance (Production Planning and Line/Base Maintenance), Planning and Materials, in accordance with regulatory requirements and embracing use of technology and digitised processes where possible.
Report significant defects to the relevant manufacturers and authorities.
Evolve SPIs & KPIs to ensure they remain meaningful, and continually manage performance against such indicators.
Ensure health and safety requirements are in place for a safe working environment within Engineering.
Provide technical support to Materials department and rigorously enforce SLAs on third party component maintenance.
Maintain oversight of contracted Engineering service providers, by ensuring continuous evolution of Joint Procedures Manuals (JPM) to reflect current practise and ensuring contractual Service Level Agreements (SLA) are implemented.
Closely collaborate with the Head of Fleet Development, Head of Planning, Materials Managers, LMM and Head of Contracted Maintenance.
Provide strategic support to Chief Technical Officer and Director of Engineering.
Together with the Head of Fleet Development, manage the technical delivery and redelivery of aircraft, both new and used.
Manage interface between Engineering and Flight Operations and ensure aircraft changes are appropriately communicated.
Ensure timely closure of non-conformances from the IAA and internal Quality Department.
Implement recommendations from the Safety committee.
Deputise for the Director of Engineering.
Maintaining De-Icing manual to reflect industry standards and best practices.
To be considered for the role of Head of Technical Services candidates must meet the following criteria:
Your qualifications & key criteria:
Engineering Degree (NFQ Level 8, 2:1 or better) or Part 66 Licensed Engineer.
At least two years experience in managing commercial contracts.
A minimum of 5 years aircraft maintenance or engineering experience and having in-depth knowledge of Part M and Part 145 regulations, continuing airworthiness regulations and principles, planning and engineering processes to ensure effective management of the AMP (Aircraft Maintenance Programme).
Excellent knowledge of industry aircraft maintenance planning process including MSG-3 and OEM MPD processes and underlying principles.
Part 147 recognised qualification on at least one Aer Lingus aircraft type.
Strong leadership and communications capabilities to effectively lead a team of airworthiness engineers.
People management and project management experience.
Able to pass a 5 year security background check*(or be in possession of a current airside pass for the airport this position is based in)
Fluent in English, both written and spoken
Eligible to live and work in the EU *
Current unrestricted worldwide passport
Provide two verifiable references
Proven capability to manage aircraft transitions, ensuring aircraft meet the required regulatory and business standards/requirements.
In-depth understanding of supplier contracts and financial terms to ensure that services are delivered per agreed service levels and within budget.
*If you are a non Irish Citizen, you will need to be in possession of a current police disclosure certificate from your home country. If you have lived outside the Republic of Ireland for more than 6 months you will also be required to hold a current police disclosure certificate from that country/countries
