If you enjoy a challenge, we have an exciting vacancy for a Financial Reporting Manager. You will report directly to the Director, Reporting & Accounting.
The key purpose of the role is to oversee all financial reporting and technical accounting matters in Aer Lingus. Specifically, this role is accountable for the preparation, monitoring, coordinating, analysis, management, and control of periodic internal and external financial reporting to ensure compliance with the latest technical accounting pronouncements and regulatory requirements.
You will be an integral part of the business and will need to be an experienced people manager who enjoys leading and developing a dedicated team with the ability to build good working relationships across different areas of the business. You will need to demonstrate a strong knowledge and understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards, managing audits, and have experience managing senior stakeholders including Executives.

Managing a team of qualified and part qualified accountants to deliver against objectives, establishing individual and collective development and training needs
Managing and coordinating the annual external audit from Aer Lingus’ perspective including acting as the focal point for external auditors, IAG Group Finance and key internal Aer Lingus constituencies (such as Finance Committee, CEO and executive management, accountants, business controllers, legal team and certain senior managers) on all technical accounting points and audit related matters
Acting as the primary interface for the CFO, Finance Committee and IAG Group Finance on matters of accounting and compliance
Preparation of statutory financial statements on an IFRS compliant basis. In so doing, ensure that Aer Lingus Management understand the application of IFRS, particularly in situations where IFRS results in complex or non-intuitive outcomes for the business, and to provide sufficient technical accounting advice to senior non-finance managers to enable them to take action to manage their business areas in a way that delivers the intended financial reporting outcomes
Review of existing accounting policies in critical areas (e.g. revenue accounting, inventory) with the objective of further improving and tightening financial control and accuracy of financial information provided to the users of the accounts, and ensure members of the finance team are kept up to date with latest developments impacting on their roles
Development and maintenance of new Internal Controls for Financial Reporting (“ICFR”) framework, so that manual practises are reduced, and financial reporting risks are mitigated. This will result in higher quality and more timely financial information being made available to external and internal users of such information
To be considered for the role of Manager Financial Reporting candidates must meet the following criteria:
Your qualifications & key criteria:
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with at least five years post qualification experience in industry or professional practice
Experience of managing the external audit process and leading teams of finance professionals to achieve goals in a timely manner
Extensive knowledge of both the theory and practical application of International Financial Reporting Standards and Irish and UK Generally Accepted Accounting Practice (“GAAP”) in a complex industrial and organisational context
Knowledge of financial reporting matters pertaining to the airline industry
Familiarity with commercial matters pertaining to the airline industry
Strong technical and commercial awareness with demonstrable experience of working in a fast-moving environment
Good Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
Strong decision-making skills
Proven communication skills with the ability to present facts clearly to a diverse and wide-ranging audience
Proven ability to persuade and influence at all levels
Knowledge of “Cognos” suite of accounting packages desirable but not essential
Fluent in English, both written and spoke
Eligible to live and work in the EU
Hold a current unrestricted worldwide passport
Able to provide 2 verifiable references
Able to pass a strict airport security vetting procedure which includes a 5 year background check* (or be in possession of a current airside pass for the airport this position is based in i.e. Dublin)
*If you are a non-Irish Citizen, you will need to be in possession of a current police disclosure certificate from your home country. If you have lived outside the Republic of Ireland for more than 6 months you will also be required to hold a current police disclosure certificate from that country/countries
