We are looking for a DS Team Lead to join our growing Digital Services team (DS), in the Aer Lingus Digital and Mobile Department in Dublin. Reporting to the Digital and Mobile Development Manager, the candidate will have responsibility for the quality and timelines of the Digital Services development team deliverables.  The candidate has overall technical responsibility for a technical team that develop services that underpin our Digital Channels (EI.com/Mobile etc.).  The candidate will have the opportunity and bandwidth to develop the team’s structure and delivery capabilities as we evolve to a product based services teams over the coming years within AWS. The successful candidate will also be the point of escalation for the Technical Leads & Principal Developers with the DS team

Your role:

Managing onshore and offshore development teams
Being accountable for the overall output of the DS team
Focusing on developing and delivering upon technical KPI’s
Mentoring and people management of DS technical team
Responsible for the quality and timelines of all projects
Working closely with the Architecture team and Technical leads to design and deliver high quality technical solutions
Responsible forproviding development sizing estimates for projects
Enthusiastic about keeping up to date with industry trends and development.
Working with QA Automation teams to improve CI pipelines to ensure faster iterative delivery of functionality and improvements

Your qualifications & key criteria: 

Previous experience as a Team Lead or similar technical people management role in a large scale software development project
10 years + Java technologies 
Solid experience working with REST services and Spring Frameworks
Strong Design knowledge, both code design patterns and API design principles
Continuous build/integration (Sonar, Jenkins, Gradle, Git/BitBucket)
Strong interpersonal, communications skills and ability to present technical ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language
Ability to motivate in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Strong analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities
Knowledge of API best practices
Ability to lead, mentor and motivate team of developers, managing day to day tasks and ensuring high quality code deliverables
Fluent in English, both written and spoken
Eligible to live and work in the EU
Hold a current unrestricted worldwide passport
Provide 2 verifiable references
Able to pass a strict airport security vetting procedure which includes a 5 year back ground 
check* or be in possession of a current airside pass for the airport this position is based in
Possess and be able to demonstrate the key competencies and skills outlined below

*If you are a non-Irish Citizen, you will need to be in possession of a current police disclosure certificate from your home country. If you have lived outside the Republic of Ireland for more than 6 months you will also be required to hold a current police disclosure certificate from that country/countries 


Desirable skills: 
Professional IT qualification and/or proven working experience with software development
AWS Experience with Development Teams
SpringBoot/SpringCloud
Application Servers (JBoss/Tomcat)
Experience of micro services
